Since 1994 Blackwater Boats has owned and operated  traditional style narrowboats. Commercial barges had previously carried coal, timber and grain along the same waterway for over 200 years. Today you can cruise this historic waterway, and enjoy the beautiful scenery from aboard our skippered trip boat. 

The Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation is an attraction everyone, boaters, anglers, walkers and birdwatchers. So why not cruise with us for a relaxing trip aboard Blackwater Boats. It has an original diesel engine with a traditional sound, and can carry up to 12 passengers and crew for hour trips or longer cruises by arrangement. Your skipper will be able to answer any questions you have about the waterway and provide an oportunity to try your hand at steering and operating the locks.

Facilities aboard includes a large open fore deck with seating, from where river views can be enjoyed, and internal cabins with toilet and hand washing facilities.

Blackwater Boats is available for that birthday, anniversary, special occasion, corporate trips or maybe an unusual venue for that important meeting. You can bring along your own picnic and refreshments and celebrate in style. Enjoy the tranquil river while relaxing onboard and let the skipper take you for a relaxing day.
