Description of Crewe Climbing and Potholing Club

Licence Nº not provided
Crewe Climbing and Potholing Club was founded in 1957 and is one of the largest and most well respected caving clubs active in the Peak District of North Staffordshire and Derbyshire. Despite our name, we now draw our membership from the whole of the Cheshire and Staffordshire region, although we are mainly based around the Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe and Macclesfield areas, and we are essentially cavers.

We are a friendly and active club, interested in all aspects of modern day cave and mine exploration, and we are pleased to welcome anyone interested in experiencing the fascinating world below ground. Newcomers to the sport are especially welcome.

We cave in all the major caving areas of the UK, including:

  • The Peak District,
  • The Yorkshire Dales,
  • South Wales,
  • North Wales,
  • The Mendip Hills
Crewe Climbing and Pot-holing Club is a member club of the British Caving Association, the Derbyshire Caving Association and the Council of Northern Caving Clubs. We are affiliated to the Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation, and provide a strong and highly experienced rescue team.

We hold Public Liability Insurance through the Derbyshire Caving Association, which covers all our members.
