I have been an enthusiastic angler since 1962 and built my first boat in 1965. A larger boat followed in 1976 which was usually launched from Redcar. In 1983 an even bigger boat was purchased which was based at Teesmouth and was used for charter angling and potting for crab and lobster. In 1994 I bought Never Can Tell-A. The boat has a pressure stocks licence and currently fishes commercially for crab and lobster in addition to charter work.
Never Can Tell - A
Never Can Tell-A is a Whitby built traditional fishing vessel 10 metres in length with a forward wheelhouse. She is of clinker construction from larch planking on heavy oak frames with a completely flush sealed deck 23 feet long.
The wheelhouse is offset which allows anglers to fish along the full length of the vessel.More space = less tangles and more fishing time. There is more usable deck space on this boat than any other Whitby charter boat of this length and more than on some longer vessels.
It is also fitted with state of the art electronics. Two GPS receivers with differential correction facility producing better than 2metre accuracy, Koden professional colour fish finder, Koden radar and Robertson automatic pilot. The radar, GPS and pilot are all interfaced together.
