Welcome to Bigland Hall Equestrian Centre -- Our aim is to provide you with the best quality Horse Riding and Riding Holidays Experience in the English Lake District and Cumbrian Fells.

We are able to offer a wide variety of general lessons to suit everyone, catering for the total beginner to the more advanced rider. Lessons can be taken outside in the summer months or all year round in our full size indoor arena.

Lessons are available on either a private basis (one-to-one instruction), or as part of a group. All lessons are taught by a fully qualified member of staff.

Bigland Hall Equestrian Accredited Pony Club


Bigland Hall Equestrian runs a very successful and highly popular Pony Club every Saturday afternoon..Designed for ages 6 to 16 it offers both girls and boys the oportuntiy to develop equine skills and enjoy a new and challenging hobby/sport:
As part of the 3 hour, weekly program you child could expect to:    

  • Work towards and achieve the accredited Pony Club badge system.
  • Work towards the Pony Club examinations for sylibi click here.
  • Participate in one hours riding, either as part of a structured lesson in our indoor school or a supervised leisure ride around Bigland Hall Estate.
Participate in an hourly stable/ horse management lesson which covers all aspects of horse/pony care. 
Help in the general running of a busy equine yard which could entail : Grooming and tacking up, stable management, tack cleaning and general yard duties.

Be properly supervised at all times by trained members of staff and in line with Health and Safety, Child Protection policy.

Pony Club is an ideal sport or hobby for young people as it not only teaches them a new skill but ultimatley encourages many aspects of overall development including : Self confidence,personal growth and responsibility, team work and most of all a "fun and active club atmosphere" where they can meet and make new friends.
