This was a surprise experience for my Mum who i wanted to treat to a really good morning out doing something new and different.

We arrived and parked , lots of space in the car park, but could have done with a little sign to say were to park . After being greeted by the resident Rottweiler ( who was actually very friendly ! ) we walked up to a door that looked like an entrance. I knocked and a lady opened it, I smiled and said "good morning were booked for Horse riding " ,the reply we got was a very sharp and abrupt " go and see Jess in the stables down there ! " , no greeting, No smile, no request for my name ,nothing ... For a £50 quid ride i really thought the experience might have started off better than this .

After the door abruptly closed behind us we made our way down to the stables , We were told to go to the Blue building and fill in the forms what forms, which blue building ? ...anyway on our own again we find the "blue building ". I Notice someones paperwork from another ride dated 1 week previous still left on the table .

Of we go on the trekk with Jess our leader , Carrie and Mouse 2 lovely horses . It was a pleasant ride albeit raining most of the time ! (which we didn't mind). We had chance to take in the beautiful setting and get used to our horses . Jess was nice and pleasant but we felt like it could have been a bit more energized.

We arrived back dripping wet and cold , a nice touch would have been an offer of a towel and a brew but as that was not suggested we paid said our farewells and went ,

All in all a disappointing experience down to the service and welcome . We will ride again but not at Northfield Farm .

Company's response:
I have replied personally to Jenny.
In reply to her review;
The 1 hour ride cost £25p/p including hats. (not a £50quid ride)
The car park is signed as is the Centre at the end of the drive.
The 'entrance' that Jenny came to was actually our private house, due to a painful fractured hip I was slow getting to the door and pehaps not at my most cheerful when greeting her - my apologies.
As they were the only two riding that morning I was aware of who they were, after directing them to the stables where Jess was preparing their horses I closed our house door as they walked away.
I am mystified by the comment 'more energised' neither Jenny or her mother had little or no experience of riding and yet Jess had them trotting before the end of the ride - certainly as much if not more than you would expect from a ride for complete novices!
On return from their ride Jess was busy looking after the welfare of the horses and was in no position to be offering cups of tea, we do not offer or advertise cafe facilities and whilst a nice idea we have a very good local cafe at Flash Bar which we direct clients to.
Most of our clients will bring a change of clothes when they know the  weather will be wet, as Jenny called to check that morning she was aware that it was raining here.
I hope that this review in no way reflects on Jess and our staff here, they are brilliant and look after the clients extremelly well, safely and in a cheerful manner.
