Riding Holidays, Trail Riding and Pony Trekking for all the family and all ages, in the superb Welsh mountain riding country of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. Lessons Available.

The Black Mountains

The Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons, Wales, are well established as one of the most popular riding areas in Wales. The varied and rugged scenery, open commons and sheltered forest bridle paths are familiar to riders from all over Great Britain and Europe. Like much of Central Wales, they are ideal riding country. Old drovers tracks and paths lead along the steep sided valleys, whilst commons and flat topped ridges provide for those who enjoy the occasional canter or gallop.

Riding Holidays

Tregoyd Mountain Riding Centre has been providing riding holidays for many years, and offers a range of mounts from 13hh ponies/14.2hh cobs up to 16hh hunter types guaranteed to suit the needs of all ages and abilities. Riders are escorted by experienced instructor guides whose knowledge of the area ensures a varied and enjoyable ride.

We offer a choice of accommodation which includes hotels, guest house, farmhouse, bunkhouse and self catering farmhouse. All are within easy reach of Tregoyd Mountain Riding Paddock.

Have fun as you learn to ride

The mounts are carefully chosen for their reliable temperament and good manners, and those new to riding will find that a good sensible mount, expert advice and tuition both in the paddock and during the ride, by the end of the holiday they will be confident, knowledgeable riders.

The mounts and the riding escorts are very experienced and visitors require no previous experience to enjoy riding in this beautiful part of Wales.

Riders are asked to assemble at 9.30am for Day and Half Day morning rides, and 1.30pm for afternoon rides.

Riders should wear suitable clothing such as anoraks, sweater, jodphurs or jeans (preferably loose fitting), riding boots, wellingtons or strong shoes. Riding hats are available at no extra cost.

Lunch break is usually taken at one of the local mountain inns.
