The Anderton Centre

Situated on the shore of the riveting Rivington Reservoir on the West Pennine Moors in Lancashire, The Anderton Centre boasts a huge range of adventure for you to enjoy.

With a range of land and water based adventures, we provide experienced instructors to guide you through any of our activities in a fun and safe way. If you prefer to keep your feet on terra firma we have an Archery range, Abseil tower and a Mountain Bike Course for you to enjoy, or if you want to enjoy the excellent water facilities you can try your hand at any of our water sports as we are an official Royal Yachting Association training centre.

With our experienced instructors, fully qualified with the British Canoe Union, we can offer experiences ranging from fun days out on the water, to introductory session, BCU awards or even team building days that are a lot of fun. Once you learn how to paddle efficiently our instructors will have a range of challenges and games on hand to make this a great experience for you!

As we are located on the shores of the Rivington Reservoir, The Anderton Centre Kayaking is the perfect place for you to enjoy this entertaining activity.

With our experienced and fully qualified instructors, we will first teach you how to pilot these one person, closed cockpit crafts to get you a bit more comfortable. Once you know how to get the most out of your kayak we can take you exploring, or offer you a range of games and challenges to really put your paddling skills to the test!

Enjoy a day out on the water with a difference with The Anderton Centre Rafting on the shores of the Rivington Reservior.

Raft building is a great experience and really brings a team together as, under the instruction of one of our fully qualified and experienced instructors, you will take a collection of water tight barrels and wooden poles of different length and turn it into a sea worthy craft. The fun, and laughs, begins when you attempt to take it across the water.

Begin your sailing career with The Anderton Centre Sailing and enjoy our fantastic water facilities on the Rivington Reservior.

We use a fleet of ‘Pico’ single person sailing dingy’s, and a Royal Yachting Association accredited course to deliver a top quality experience to teach basic sailing skills on the beautiful Rivington Reservior. Our experienced and fully qualified instructors will ensure you learn a wonderful sport, while at the same time having a very enjoyable and rewarding day.

Requiring focus, patience and control, Archery can be enjoyed as a fun social event, simple recreation or to let your competitive side out. We have a permanent archery range and experienced instructors to teach you technique give you pointers as you use modern equipment as you discover this ancient sport.

Forget every sane instinct and walk backwards off the edge of a small cliff with The Anderton Centre Abseiling and enjoy every second of it!

With our experienced guides on hand you will be leaping off cliffs before you know it! Abseiling requires nerves, control and knowledge and our fully qualified instructors can help you with nearly all of them, they will take you through the skills required and help you over the edge, then it is time to put your newly acquired skills to the test!

If you are a maestro with a map or are confused when you look at a compass, The Anderton Centre Orienteering offers you a great experience.

Our experienced instructors will teach you basic skills in map and compass work before sending you on your way on our varied orienteering courses set in the beautiful surroundings here in Lancashire.
