STATIC LINE
- All of Skydive St Andrews student training is undertaken using the more modern and up-to-date Ram Air Progression System (RAPS). This is a square parachute system with far more controllability than its older counterpart, the round parachute.
- A 'static line' attached to the parachute opens the chute as you fall away from the aircraft. All square parachute systems carry reserve parachutes with automatic activation devices for safety..
- Skydive St Andrews offers freefall Tandem skydiving. This is one of the most innovative forms of parachuting to be developed in the last 20 years. The instruction needed is minimal and takes around 30 minutes. It offers a quick and easy introduction to freefall by using a dual harness system in which the student is attached to a highly experienced instructor who will control the freefall, parachute deployment and landing. Literally thousands of people jump using this system each year as an easy introduction to the sport and the wonders of freefall.
- This is the most advanced instructional system available today and is not provided by any of the other clubs or centres in Scotland. It is an advanced and rapid progression system. The student is taken onto freefall on the first training jump and guided by two highly experienced skydivers, who are able to correct and teach the student in freefall. In freefall various exercises and drills are conducted which introduce the new environment. The student needs to successfully complete only 8 jumps to qualify.
