The Baldwin Trust is a charitable ortanisation that was set up in 1983 with three trustees. The Trust oprates two narrowboats providing outings for communites, families, residents of rest and care homes and any other groups to visit the River Soar and the Loughborough canal in Leicestershire. It took four years of extensive fundraising from 1983 before raising enough money to commission a narrowboat. The second narrowboat we own is the Dandelion. It had cease operating in the late 1990's and was leased in 2002 to our organisation by Leicester City Counsil.
Our kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, fridge, hot and cold water, cooking utensils, crockery, glasses and cutlery available for every passanger. The boats have lifts and ramps so they are able to manage disabled, elderly passengers or other people with special needs and the toilet cubicle on board is adjusted for wheelchair passengers to use it if needed.
Besides our trustees team there is also a management team in charge of the boat operations. All our crews are volunteers and our Skippers are all fully NCBA Qualified.
