Gliding in Bedfordshire

Come to Sackville Flying Club Gliding and feel what it’s like to fly as if you were a bird. Gliders are unpowered aircrafts that go up through the sky and cover large distances without any problems. By using their large wings, they easily fly in the air currents generated by the sun when it heats the ground and by the wind that blows over the mountains. Flights can be as far as 300km to 500km during the warm summer days. At our airfield, glider pilots regularly fly as far as Yorkshire and the Welsh Borders. Our club is home to many pilots who share this passion for gliding, so here you will feel like home. Our British Gliding Association instructors offer you training and also a trial flight if you are curious about this air sport. Among our facilities, we are proud to have a 730 metre-long grass runway, a clubhouse, workshop buildings, uncontrolled airspace and a big shelter for the aircrafts with plenty of space. Welcome to London Gliding School! We are based in near Dunstable, just off the A5. We are only around 30 minutes from Milton Keynes or Aylesbury by car, and a convenient 45 minutes from North or West London. We welcome everyone to our gliding school, including schools and youth groups, new members, and those who have never experienced gliding before. Why not come along for your first flight, and experience the incredible feeling of flying with us? We also offer evening courses and training to become a glider pilot. We fly 364 days a year, weather permitting, and our excellent facilities include a large fleet of gliders, tugs and winch cables, professional instructors, and we have sufficient airspace to provide excellent local and cross country flying. We also have a fantastic restaurant serving great food!
