Essex Gliding Club is located on the border of Essex and Suffolk close to the picturesque village of Ashen in Essex and Clare in Suffolk.
Our fleet of gliders consists of three different types of two-seat training gliders for our beginners to learn to fly. We own two PW6, (composite construction) training gliders. One ASK K13 two-seat trainer and one high performance, (composite construction) 19.5-meter wingspan Marianne training glider.
For our solo pilots and solo visiting pilots, we have a Grob Astir single seat glider for your use.
We provide aerotow launching with our Piper Pawnee tug and winch launching with our modern powerful Skylaunch winch.
This year in 2016 we are offering week-long gliding courses from May through to September. Our gliding courses will only have four pupils, maximising the amount of flying time available to each pupil.
Our airfield site has facilities for camping and trailer parking, we have a new toilet and shower/washroom with hot water. We offer basic cooking facilities and a beautiful location close to some historic towns and places!
