Description of The Long Distance Walkers Association

The Long Distance Walkers Association was founded in 1972 with 355 members and has since grown to over 7,000 members. They are recognized as the governing body of long distance walking and publish a 100 page journal 3 times a year. Their biggest event entails walking 100 miles in 48 hours. Joining the Long Distance Walkers Association gets you:

Anyone can join the LDWA. They even have a ¨Family Membership¨ in which two adults and their children can be registered. Their walks are typically more than 20 miles and they host a number of social walks where people knew to long distance walking can give it a try.
