Alfresco Adventures makes Canoeing accessible to all! Established in 2012, we offer multi-adventure and watersports experiences to people of all walks of life. If you want to have a go at canoeing but have no prior experience whatsoever we can still cater to your needs, starting right away out on the waters where you will immediately learn how to steer, control and manoeuvre your canoe.

This is possible thanks to our Canadian canoes which are safe and intuitive to use, and our staff. Our guides are friendly and very welcoming, while, of course, holding the relevant certification for any activity they’re leading. They will help you to improve and to enjoy yourself at the same time.

Canoeing can be enjoyed individually, as a couple, or as a group of multiple canoes - separate or rafted together. In the mood for a challenge? Well, here there are plenty of chances to join in with some games which will test your balance and teamwork. If exploration is more your thing, join us for a journey of discovery down the River Ure or Ouse in North Yorkshire, or down the length of Ullswater in Cumbria.

Alfresco Adventures is ideal for those who want to go Kayaking! We have over a decade of experience welcoming people to the sport, surprising experienced watersports enthusiasts with our activities and exploring the best locations for kayaking in North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

While Kayaking is relatively a simple activity, it does take some skills in paddling and the right kind of attitude! Safety is always our top priority, and our experienced instructors will prepare you with basic skills before moving onto the water. Most of our activities are suitable for families and groups of friends wanting to try something new and fun, but we have some more advanced challenges too.

There are rivers and lakes in the North of England that are ideal for kayaking. In North Yorkshire, we go paddling on Semerwater, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and take river journeys on the River Ure and the River Ouse. Our spiritual home in the Lake District National Park is Ullswater. We can also adapt to you, even travelling to a body of water of your choice.

We have Stand Up Paddleboarding lessons, tours and sessions for people of all ages and skills.
