We mix a great range of experiences, both indoor and outdoors such as canoeing, kayaking, canyoning, rafting, hiking, climbing, archery, caving, abseiling and orienteering to improve self-confidence and teamwork by building active communication, planning and thinking outside the box and of course having fun!

Enjoy taking to the water with us and enjoy our four acres of tree-lined waterways!

No matter if you know your way around a canoe or this is your first time, our experienced instructors will tailor your experience to suit you as well as provide training to improve your skill with a paddle. With activities ranging from a tranquil paddle or introduction to canoeing to our high energy games for groups and individuals, we really do have something for everyone!

Come and join us on the water to enjoy this great activity that has been a favourite at our centre for many years now.

Kayaking is a sport that is open to people of all ages, no matter your level of experience our fully qualified and professional instructors will teach you the skills you need to get more out of this experience that can range from a tranquil paddle, to a frantic day of games for groups and individuals. Discover the extreme fun of a day out with Carlton Lodge Outdoor Centre Canyoning as we navigate a moving stream surrounded by the beauty of North Yorkshire.

Spend this wet and wild day navigating a mountain stream, navigating the natural obstacles, scrambling over boulders and sliding down natural chutes with the aid of the churning, fresh waters. At all times you will be accompanied by one of our fully qualified and local instructors who will keep everyone safe while at the same time guide you through obstacles and help you get the most out of this adrenaline soaked experience.

Get out on our 4 acre lake with Carlton Lodge Outdoor Centre Rafting and enjoy paddling across this tree lined body of water without a raft!

You read right, we do not supply you with a raft, instead you will receive the raw materials to design and construct your own vessel! Using poles, watertight drums and lengths of rope, you and your group will need to work closely together to build a seaworthy raft, or at least something that looks like one!

Once you have completed your feat of maritime engineering one of our fully qualified instructors will take you out on the water from their safety boat, putting the teams through their paces with a set of games, races and challenges designed to see if you have made a good job of creating your raft, if not into the water you go!

Archery has evolved greatly since the times of flint arrow tips in the Stone Age! Now it is an art and an Olympic level sport which, using modern eqiupment, everyone can enjoy!

Our fully qualified instructors will teach you the skills you need to hit the target consistently in your search for the ever elusive bull's eye, and to finish the day we will run a friendly competition to introduce you to the thrill of competitive archery, this is always good for a laugh and a very rewarding experience.

Our team of experienced and qualified instructors will take you on a tour of the Yorkshire Dales unlike any other!

The Yorkshire Dales is truly a beautiful place, but when we go there its to see the amazing sites that lie below the rolling greenery. As we descend into the darkness you will see the stunning natural beauty that has been forming for eons.

Our professional and friendly instructors will ensure you receive top notch instruction and the best of equipment to ensure you have the best of experiences. They will provide a safe environment at all times so you can enjoy this exciting sport and learn some new skills.

On the grounds of Carlton Lodge Outdoor Centre Orienteering, and the local forests, we offer this exciting race at a level that all can participate in.

Both off an on our fantastic site, we have courses set up that will challenge children and young adults at all levels. The aim of orienteering is to use a map and compass to race from checkpoint to checkpoint, choosing the best route so that your team is the first to cross the finish line. It is a challenging sport that requires not only speed, but also the vital navigation skills that our experienced instructors will teach and good communication between the team.

For more of a learning experience, the session can be adapted to cover the National Curriculum for subjects such as PE, Geography, Science, Maths and PSHE.
