Get outdoors and discover the Welsh countryside with Expeditions Wales! Hiking, navigating and exploring the hiddden secrets of the Welsh countryside can be done confidently and competently, with our training and guidance.

Our base camp is some 12 miles inland from Aberystwyth and has all of the facilities you may need to enjoy a wonderful experience. There is also plenty of accommodation aswell for parent who wish to stay within the area during the expedition.

Training at other locations throughout the country is also available; just let us know where!

We offer professional training and courses for mountain navigation of remote and wild terrains, as well as Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition training and National Navigation Award training. 

Our staff are qualified, experienced and friendly and delighted to share their passion for the mountains with other eager adventurers!

Learn to navigate and read a map and compass with the adequate skills with us at Expeditions Wales Orienteering. We boast the fantastic and stunning landscape of Snowdonia and North Wales right here on our doorstep for our training and excursions; however we can run our training at other locations around the country if requested.

We offer official Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition training and day or multiday expeditions that will be led by one of our qualified instructors who will provide you with the training you need to be a skilled navigator. Groups are always more than welcome!

Expeditions Wales Orienteering will be delighted to train you for mountain adventures!  We will improve your navigation skills, techniques and help you to understand weather conditions, equipment, clothing and saftety.

The courses we offer are the following:

• Basic Map Reading: half day course based on map reading, understanding sclaes, locating easy paths, locating features
• Introduction to Navigation: full day course that will teach you skills and give you the confidence to go on a adventure on your own
• Confident Map Reading: you will practice and develop skills such as orientating  a map identifying features or how to use a compass.
