Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education Canoeing encourages students to develop their water confidence and experience teamwork, as our Canadian canoes can hold up to 3 people.

You will be responsible for steering and keeping the boat upright. We will also provide water etiquette information and you may glimpse local wildlife.

A qualified paddling instructor will show you how to carry and move your canoe safely before taking to the water. We will also practice the basic paddling techniques on land too.

Once we take to the water, you can expect to steer and stop your canoe effectively. It is important that you all paddle in unison so that the boat moves smoothly through the water and in order to avoid clashes with other canoes!

Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education Kayaking encourages students to develop their confidence on the water and experience being self-reliant.

We will show you the general principles of paddling, turning and stopping before hitting the water. What´s more, you will need to know how to get in and out of your kayak and what to do in the event of capsizing.

Once you have grasped the basics, your qualified kayak instructor will introduce a variety of games to motivate you and your team members.

We also complete short trips around the famous Osprey Island and Loch Insh.

Get your adrenalin pumping as you plunge down slides and experience the thundering power of nature as you stand below a waterfall.

You can expect to be cold and wet, but it does not matter and will not dampen your team spirit!

We will issue you with the correct gear and impart a safety briefing before the journey begins. We advise you to bring plenty of food and drink as you will need an energy boost half way through the adventure.

Each raft will be accompanied by a qualified rafting instructor. They will command the raft and help you with your paddling techniques. The aim of Lagganlia Centre Rafting is to make the activity as fun and as exciting as possible!

Welcome to Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education Sailing.

Sailing is a brilliant opportunity for teamwork and you will be in charge of your own safety. It encourages students to listen and follow complex instructions.

You will be briefed about the activity beforehand so that you can express your concerns and doubts within an open environment.

A qualified sailing instructor will show you how to assemble your craft, steer the boat and what to do in the event of capsizing.

We work on the Loch Morlich; it is a short drive from our centre and provides excellent sailing conditions. You will also have access to the local club house in order to get changed and enjoy a hot drink after your session.

We also have access to boats for people with disabilities.

Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education Hiking is known locally as ´Mountain Adventure´. You will be rewarded with an enormous sense of achievement and pride.

You will experience the wilderness and raw beauty of the Cairngorms National Park as well as gain valuable knowledge about hiking safety, suitable clothing and sufficient food supplies.

We will brief you about the activity beforehand so that you can discuss any concerns you may have. We aim to provide a friendly teaching environment so that you will feel at ease.

Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education Climbing is also equipped with an indoor climbing wall for you to practice on. It has proven a huge success because sometimes the weather makes outdoor rock climbing impossible.

Our local crags provide adventurous climbing routes for the most experienced climbers. There are a huge variety of climbs near Lagganlia. For those new to the sport, there are friendly crags like Kingussie Crag and Huntly's cave (described as having 'cracking routes and a stunning finish'). If you are experienced and after more of a challenge, the Cairngorms offer a great variety of easily accessible multi-pitch climbs.Let the adventure begin...

Archery is a brilliant activity. We find a high success rate in our students and it is a wonderful opportunity for boosting self-esteem. We can also adapt our archery equipment to suit people with certain disabilities.

We enforce a strict safety regime for your own safety.

Archery provides you with a sense of being a part of something important from the past. We will help you live the dream to the best of your ability.

A qualified instructor will impart the session. After a brief introduction the sport, you will be instructed on how to set up the area and, most importantly, how to use your bow and arrow.

Lagganlia Centre  for Outdoor Education Mountain Biking is designed to encourage students to persevere, expand their comfort zones and become environmentally aware.

What´s more, you will experience cycling amid exquisite scenery and tranquillity.

We will decide a suitable route depending on your fitness level. We will also discuss how to maintain your bike, allowing you to share and express your opinions.

During the ride, the leader will change regularly in order to develop your leadership skills and so that you practice listening and helping others.

A qualified instructor will be on-hand throughout in order to observe and help with any possible problems that may arise.

Welcome to Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education Orienteering.

We aim to show the young just what orienteering is all about. It encourages independent and logical thinking, which makes it a mental as well as a physical challenge.

We organise the participants into pairs or trios so that they have the chance to work together and build upon their teamwork skills.

As a competitive sport, it enables groups to shine and boosts their self-confidence.

We will show you how to read maps and explain the rules of orienteering beforehand. Then it is up to you to find the posts before your opponents!
