Duncan Paterson, the lead instructor at North East Mountaineering, is a Mountaineering Instructor and currently holds the Mountaineetring Instructor Award (MIA) and Winter Mountain Leader (WML).

We will provide a fantastic introduction to map reading and navigation through a variety of terrain in beautiful Scotland. As well as taking you to amazing spots of natural beauty we will introduce you to basic map reading skills and how to properly use a compass to navigate.
We do also offer an advanced navigation course where we will bring in skills such as more advanced map and compass techniques and the skills you will need to make better judgment calls on your experience out in the field.
