If you are a complete beginner or know your way around a canoe, we have the experience for you. Led by professional, experienced and fully qualified instructors, if you are a beginner we will take you through basic skills in an environment suited to becoming more comfortable on the water. If you have more experience this is a great opportunity to try your hand at Open canoeing. We are a member of the British Canoe Union meaning you can be assured of the quality of our canoeing trips and instruction.

Spend half a day negotiating a river bed, boulders, pools and waterfalls, as you take in the beautiful Moorland mountain streams, for those with the nerve there are some great jumps and lots of fun to be had, just make sure you bring a change of clothes. This a completely practical exercise in teamwork and problems solving, under the direct supervision of one of our experienced instructors you will design and build your own raft out of water tight barrels, wooden planks and ropes. Once you believe it is sea worthy, you will take it around our designated course, the aim of which is to complete the course, and do so dry! A great day for some very wet laughs, as well as being quite an enlightening experience.

Challenge nature and gravity when you join Outdoor Activities Service Climbing in a day full of nature and excitement at Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

Experience the thrill of climbing on a real rock face, no indoor climbing here, our fully qualified instructors, all members of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors AMI, will teach you the skills you need and begin you on our single pitch outcrops ranging from 25 to 85 feet. As you become more comfortable we will provide new challenges, so if you are a bit more experienced we are more than able to provide you with a great experience.
Courses are avaiable for people who want to try multi pitch big cliff climbing.

This sport requires skill, focus and hand-eye coordination, our fully qualified instructors will teach you the skills required, the rest is up to you! At Outdoor Actiitie Service OAS Mountain Biking, get active, outside and off roading and take advantage of nature. Take an exhilarating ride and get your cobwebs blown out and your adrenaline rushing. Mountain biking is an amazing way to enjoy the outdoors while taken control of the terrain. Your limits will only be the ones you make yourself!

Mountain biking involves mud, sweat, perseverance and occasionally some tears, but it´s always worth it. We at Alternative Adventures Mountain Biking have direct access to some great trails in the forests, along old railway tracks or country parks. We operate in the West Penning Moors, Rivington, Southern Pennines, Gisburn Forest along with other venues in Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside are our regular spots.
This is a great group activity as well, and they can cater to youth groups, corporate days or any other numerous group.

Sometimes known as “cunning running” or the “thought sport”, Outdoor Activities Service Orienteering brings the great outdoors together with keeping fit in a very fun way!

If you have ever looked back the way you came, and thought, “should I have turned left”, you will find this event a lot of fun and a great experience. Our experienced and professional instructors will teach you all about map orientation, feature identification, route choice and distance measurement, testing what you learn along the way by increasing the challenge and finally culminating in a mini orienteering event, where the race is on to get navigate the course and get to the finish first!

Our orienteering sessions are led by fully qualified British Orienteering coaches throughout Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.

Welcome to Outdoor Activities Service Hiking! Experience some of the best walking in England in areas like the West Penning Moors, Forest of Bowland, Southern Pennines, Lake District, North Wales, Scotland, Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales and the  North Work Moors. Get outside, get active and get walking. Thoroughly enjoy the outdoors while taken in scenery and getting exercise.

We offer the Duke of Edinburgh Award group leader training, the MLTE qualification courses leading to the SML and WGL. We can provide leaders who hold the Summer and Winter Mountain Leader Award as well as holders of the Mountaineering Instructors Award MIA.
