Where to go skydiving in Peterlee?

First of all, you have to know that this city does not stand out for being one of the largest in the country and that it may be somewhat rare that parachute jumps can be made here. Therefore, in order to live the experience of flying like a bird, you will have to travel to the Shotton Colliery airfield, located in a village that over time has ended up merging with Peterlee. It is only a 10-minute drive from the city center.

What kind of jumps are on offer?

Requirements to do this activity

It would be ideal if we could say that anyone can sign up for one of these jumps, because we would love it if even the little ones at home were able to experience something like this. However, they will have to wait a few years until they reach the age requirement, or bring written consent from a parent or legal guardian allowing them to take part with at least 16 years of age.

Just as there is a minimum age, there is also a limit of 55 years old, from which you can jump, but you have to consult it beforehand. It is considered that a person of this age is already approaching the range of a risk group, and as you can imagine, flying thousands of meters in the air brings one’s heart rate to full speed. How long does the experience last?

This will depend on the type of flight you choose, since the Peterlee school offers jumps of 10,000 feet or 15,000. In the first, the free fall time will be about 30 seconds, and in the second, it will last approximately 60 seconds. Whichever option you choose, the time from the when the parachute opens until you land will not exceed 10 minutes. If you wish to fly for longer, you can always choose the pack of two jumps.

What equipment do I need?

The most comfortable clothes possible, of course! Be aware that clothes that are too loose may negatively impact free fall speed which need to reach 120 miles per hour to open the parachute.
