Welcome to Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, a brilliant outdoor activity provider for everyone! Our main objective is to stimulate and motivate through our sports and our outdoor experiences in a safe environment. We cater to youth, students, corporate days even birthdays, it is the perfect place to go if you´re looking for a new adventure. Among our activities you can find:

• Abseiling: This is our most popular classic! Our tower has received thousands of people that have tried it over the years. They all agree: ‘You never forget your first abseil’. The minimum age for this activity is 5 years old.
• Climbing: We have an indoor climbing wall, aimed for beginners and perfect for the youngest climbers. The minimum age for climbing at our centre is 5 years old.
• Archery: For 5 year-old children and upwards, this activity is perfect for people of all ages and abilities. Try and practise your aim with our targets.
• Canoeing: A great sport for beginners, but also for those who want to go through moving water. Our canoes allow up to 3 people and the minimum age for doing this is 8 years old.
• Camping: Are you searching for a great camping experience? We often organise groups for people who want to spend the night in tents. The minimum age for this is 8.
• Orienteering: This is a great team building activity that will help you improve your navigation skills and your map reading. The minimum age for this adventure is 5 years old.

Discover canoeing through Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre for an unforgettable adventure. Where can you find us? We are located on the River Soar in Leicestershire and we have recently been named The British Canoeing ‘Centre of the Year’ in 2015.

What abilities do you need for this wonderful water sport? The skills required for canoeing can be easily learnt. Basically, they are communication, perseverance, coordination and balance. We run British Canoeing courses in the East Midlands, so you can become a qualified canoeist if that’s your desire.

In an open canoe, you can sit or kneel, it’s up to you. Bigger than a kayak, a canoe can carry three people at the same time, which means that teamwork is essential here. This is a great activity for beginners and for people who want to learn how to manage a steady boat. Are you one of those?

With no doubt, canoeing is an absolutely wonderful way to enjoy water and great for going into nature. Come along and bring your group together with this wonderful sport, an endless adventure! Come along to Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre and enjoy a wonderful kayaking session on the River Soar in Leicestershire. You can choose from playing paddle games with other kayakers, go for an exciting journey in the nature or simply learn more skills like how to move the boat about.

Kayaking is a great water sport in which you will be able to develop your perseverance and self-confidence, apart from other transferable skills, such as communication, balance, agility and teamwork. You will not be the same person that you were before the adventure: you will feel proud of yourself, capable of doing anything and you will want to repeat.

Regarding what to wear, if the weather is good, you will need lightweight clothes and trainers (not boots), sun cream and a hat. And in case you want to go swimming afterwards, don’t forget to bring spare clothes and shower kit including towel. If the weather is not that good, bring a windproof jacket, a fleece and a couple of layers underneath.

This is your opportunity to take part in one of the most creative group activities we have at Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, located on the River Soar in Leicestershire. Participate on the construction of a raft or a bridge. On the course, we will give you the materials and basic lessons to build your own raft or bridge with your team and race it (those that float) against the other teams.

This is a brilliant course for corporate team building, youth and school groups, birthdays and excursions. It has become one of our most popular activities over the years. The task is very easy: design your raft, build it with your team and make it float. What about bridge building? It is very similar: you build your bridge as a team and try to cross the river without falling into it. 

The experience involves creativity, cooperation and teamwork, and it’s a great way to get everyone working together. Would you like to reach new heights? Then, with no doubt at all, Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre is the perfect place for you. We have multiple climbing walls so everyone can find something adjusted to their levels and ages. From sloped towers to vertical walls, nothing will get in your way of your adventure, not even a rainy day. Our indoor climbing wall is 8m high and has different coloured routes that you can follow to the top, all of them challenging and good fun.

Starting on a slope, the longest route is 12m, an excellent beginner’s wall: good for children aged 5 years old and upwards. Give it a try and come along. Here you will learn social abilities such as communication, teamwork and trust. You will also develop your perseverance, agility, balance and strength. We have sessions for individuals or for up to two people at the same time.

This sport is great for groups. Climbing always needs someone to control the ropes, so we always make teams. We offer special activities for school groups, birthdays and corporate days. We offer bows and arrows for all ages, sizes and abilities, so everyone can participate, even 5-year-old children and upwards. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an expert, archery is a great way to improve your aim and concentration and get active at the same time. It’s also very good for friendly competitions between colleagues, friends and schoolmates.

At our centre, we have Olympic style archery targets and also archery darts. Both indoor and outdoor options are available and we can also bring the activity to your venue. Just come along with a group of friends and you will learn how to develop different skills, such as responsibility, risk management and coordination.

Are you ready for the adventure? Welcome to Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre Abseiling. We are proud of having amazing towers and walls for those who want to try this thrilling sport. We offer three different courses:

• The first one is an introduction to abseiling on a sloped wall of 6.5 metres high. This is aimed for younger people aged 5 years old and upwards, and those who are searching for a short taste to begin with.
• The second option is a 10m vertical wall for those who want the full experience. It starts at the top and sliding down the rope makes it very exciting and rewarding.
• The third choice is a double abseil, which means that you can do it at the same time as a friend, and see who is faster.

Welcome to Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, where we have a course around our 15 acre place for anyone looking for a challenge like this. Orienteering is an exciting activity that will teach you how to improve your navigation skills, use a map and a compass correctly and find the markers located on the land as fast as you can if there are other teams involved.

When you arrive at our place, we recommend you to wear comfortable clothes and lightweight shoes. Don’t worry if you have never done this before, we will give you all the instructions first and we will make sure that you make the most of your day with us. We organise groups for schools and colleges, birthday parties, corporate events and even stag and hen parties.

If you really like it and want to learn more, for further tuition we also offer the British Orienteering Federation (BOF) course, specific for teachers and people who work with children. With this one- day training lesson, you will learn the knowledge and practical abilities to teach the basic skills of orienteering to beginners in a fun way.

Come along with your friends, schoolmates or colleagues and participate in this teamwork activity. Up to 4 people climb to the top, the rest of the group controls their ropes. This needs good communication to be successful because you will have to lean backwards holding onto each other and keep balance.
