We are an outdoor activity company based in the Lake District and have been operating since 1993.  We have a wealth of experience in providing a large variety of events to groups looking for adventure, fun and challenging experiences.  Based in Ullswater, in the Eden Valley in Cumbria our location offers beautiful countryside and scenery to explore. 

We welcome family and friend groups, stag and hen parties, team building groups and we also run technical outdoor courses and provide outdoor equipment hire.  Our activities are suitable for all ages, and you can combine them to make the perfect multi-adventure package suited to you and your group.

In addtion to this, our brand new Alpine Style Lodge providing self-catering group accommodation is perfect for stag and hen parties, challenge events and corporate team building groups.  It comes complete with excellent facilities on our private estate in the Lake District.

Welcome to Distant Horizons Canoeing

Paddling with us is a scenic and fun activity that has endless possibilities.  Located in the Lake District we boast countless lakes like Ullswater (the second largest in the Lake District) and rivers in the area for paddling trips, courses, and expeditions for groups and individuals.

We have a variety of boats to chose from including sea kayaks, canoes and sit on top kayaks.  We also provide boat and equipment hire including camping equipment. We can include canoeing in a multi-adventure package or for Teambuilding events or friends and families looking for something new. Our instructors are all highly qualified and experienced paddlers.

Welcome to Distant Horizons Kayaking where you can paddle the stunning lakes and rivers of the Lake District and we also offer sea kayaking in Scotland to the Isle of Skye or Rassay. We offer organized paddles on stunning lakes like Coniston Water, Ullswater, Windermere and Derwent Water, kayaking courses and workshops and excellent quality kayaks for hire for those who wish to venture off themselves.

Our instructors are all qualified and delighted to welcome groups of all ages and abilities. Whether you are looking for a short taster session or a longer trip of venturing into the wilderness for 3 or 4 days and taking in the stunning sights of Scotland and the Lake Distrcit, we can provide a kayak experience for you.

Canyoning is just one of the exhilarating outdoor adventures we offer at Distant Horizons Canyoning. Based in the Lake District, we have countless gorges nearby for gorge scrambling experiences fit for everyone! Our rafting experience at Distant Horizons Rafting is a big team challenge of improvised raft building! Our location in the Lake District means that we have oodles of lakes and rivers as well as the Cumbrian coast for this adventure!

Improvised rafting building is an activity that calls for teamwork, creativity and cooperation. Supplied with the basic materials of planks, ropes and barrels, teams must design, build and race their raft against that of the other team! The objective is to win the race and avoid ending up like the Titantic!

Welcome to Distant Horizons Climbing

Based in the Ullswater Valley in the Lake District we are located in the climbing haven for all those who wish to learn how to climb, belay and  the ins and outs of rope work. We offer courses, workshops and adventure weekends for every level of climber.

Learn and develop climbing skills with our instructors who are MIA or MIC qualified and will use the vast knoweldge to assist you with having a memorable experience on rock. We can take you climbing in the valleys, on mountain crags or on our excellent purpose built inddor climbing wall which is also a great wet weather alternative. We can cater to groups as well as individuals looking to take up, improve or perfect their climbing skills.

Welcome to Distant Horizons Abseiling

If you wish to embark on a thrilling abseiling adventure in the stunning Lake District then look no further. The Lake District has an area of endless amount of crags and rock to abseil.  Descend down overhangs or even buildings with this adrenaline filled sport.

Our professional and experienced instructors will look after you from start to finish and teach you all of the necessary skills. We run abseils for teambuilding, corporate and charity events.

Welcome to Distant Horizons Orienteering! We are a charming outdoor activity provider in the stunning Lake District. We have over two decades worth of experience delivering land and water adventures to adventurers of all shapes and sizes. Our navigation training will equip you with the skills to confidently and competently use a map and compass so that you can venture off without every worrying about straying off route.

We have over two decades worth of experience providing flexible and adventurous experiences for adventurers of all sizes and ages!
We offer archery in the beautiful area of the Lake District, and our qualified and experienced instructors will take you through the techniques so you can learn and improve your shot!

We can cater for groups of all ages and sizes, and all abilities! Whether you are looking for a unique activity for a hen or stag party, to celebrate a birthday, a teambuilding event, or just a day out with friends and family, we can work with you to provide a fun and exciting day! We have both indoor and outdoor facilities, so you can join us all year round! We can also bring archery to you with our mobile equipment.
