Open Water SUP Training at Fistral Beach for 3h

Paddling around a sheltered cove or on a lake is one thing, but using a stand-up paddleboard to cross the open sea is completely different. If you’re serious about SUP, find out how you can turn it from a holiday pastime into a true adventure with us - right here in Newquay, Cornwall.

The first thing that’s different is the equipment. In place of industry-standard inflatable boards, we’ll be using hard construction touring paddleboards of up to 14 feet in length in combination with carbon paddles. On top of that, we’ll wear full length wetsuits and buoyancy aids. Use of all this equipment is included in the price.

To take part in this three-hour session, you need to have prior experience of paddleboarding. We’ll spend about an hour on Fistral Beach going over safety procedures, paddling techniques and the theoretical side of things, before spending two hours on the water.

We’ll take on a variety of conditions that could include choppy seas, swells of up to half a metre, high winds and strong tides. If you’re ready for that, you’ll take away valuable skills such as route planning and weather forecasting, rescue techniques and rough water stability.
