Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey is more than just a religious building to worship every day. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the most important treasures of British culture and identity!

It was founded back in 960 AD by the Benedictine Monks, but it wasn't until 1245 that the church was built by Henry III. It has been the main place for coronations since 1066, crowning 40 monarchs through time, and having 17 monarchs resting in peace within its grounds. Westminster Abbey is also an essential piece within Royal Weddings. Sixteen Royal Weddings have taken place in this breathtaking building, meaning we couldn't talk about British Royalty and history without mentioning it.
