Welcome to Scropton Riding and Driving Centre
We are based in the village of Scropton, Derbyshire, conveniently located just off the A50 and about 10 miles southwest of Derby and 6 miles northwest of Burton. We are a BHS approved Riding Centre who welcomes riders of all ages and abilities. We are also the home of Scropton Riding for the Disabled and offer lessons to over 200 disabled people of various ages and disabilities.
We are open 7 days a week and have excellent facilities, professional and experienced staff and a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
Our Lessons
We can provide lessons for both disabled and able-bodied riding to a very high standard. We also have the option of with group or private lessons. We can also provide driving instruction can be given to individuals, pairs, tandems and teams. We also give training for the British Driving Society and British Horse Society Exams.
Riding Lessons for the disabled can be of either 30, 45 or 60 minutes duration. Leaders and side-walkers are provided if required depending on the rider’s abilities. Lessons are available during the day both on weekdays (Mondays – Thursdays) and at weekends. Private Individuals or groups such as Schools and Day Centres are all welcome. There is a minimum age of 5 for children. Lessons usually take place in the indoor school. Most lessons are group lessons. but private lessons are also available.
Driving Lessons for the disabled are usually of 20 minutes duration and are offered on weekdays or at limited times at weekends. Wheelchair accessible carriages are available. Lessons usually take place in the outdoor school.
