Looking for new ways to stay active in the great outdoors?
Then take a trip to Forest Fitness NI, where adventurous activities will have you burning calories and getting in shape without you even noticing! Fun is the first principle here, as we put on all kinds of events, games and challenges in a beautiful woodland environment in Carrickfergus, just half an hour’s drive from central Belfast.
First things first, we have an Assault Course made up of natural and built obstacles that’s designed to test the limits of teams of hopefuls. Our other great passion is Airsoft. We run open days for walk-on players, themed events and some full-on MilSim sessions for die-hard fans. Other outdoor activities we offer are Axe Throwing, Laser Tag and NERF Warfare.
Special events and group away days are another big part of our calendar. From boot camps to airsoft meets and bushcraft survival days to boxercise classes, there’s always something going on.
The mastermind behind the whole operation is Lea Vaughan. He’s got active outdoor credentials in bucketloads, having served in the elite ranks of the armed forces, led expeditions to both mountain tops and the seafloor and worked as a personal trainer. But don’t be intimidated, the customers and members of staff are here to have a good time and make positive progress.

How did Tarzan get in such good shape?
He was out in the jungle, swinging through the trees! We give you the chance to emulate his physical prowess at Forest Fitness NI on our assault course that includes High Ropes, swings, climbs, leaps and more! Have a go at it and you’ll be getting a full-body workout with a smile on your face for the duration.
Our philosophy is that the great outdoors is the best place to build physical strength and mental fortitude. That’s why we’ve established a woodland adventure centre in Carrickfergus. As well as being fully equipped and set up for success, it’s just a stone’s throw from the capital of Northern Ireland, Belfast.
While the assault course is your chance to show us how well you’d do as a George of the Jungle, we have plenty of other activities to allow you to prove yourself in different ways. There’s the Airsoft arena where we host frequent battles and special events in addition to Laser Tag, the Axe Throwing range, and spaces for bushcraft and survival camps.

Your local Airsoft venue, Forest Fitness NI, needs you. Simulated combat awaits, heroes will be made and stories born to last the ages. We are one of the premier airsoft organisers in Northern Ireland, located in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, with Belfast just a short distance away.
We run a weekly programme of airsoft games. Games run on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year, with public, private and under-16 action on the cards. There’s something to suit players of all levels of experience, from new recruits to hardened warriors. The most intense sessions are our MilSim weekends which involve camping out on site.
Our forest venue covers 30 acres, split up into 6 game maps that put skill, strategy and stamina to the test. But it’s not just airsoft on offer. We also have a challenging Assault Course, an Axe Throwing range and Laser Tag and NERF equipment to allow youngsters to get a taste of battle simulations.
Whether you’re a lone wolf, a pack of lions, a fitness family or celebrating something special like a birthday or an upcoming wedding, we’ll put on the airsoft adventure for you!
Why is it that the simplest things are often the most fun?
At Forest Fitness NI, we don’t have the answer, but we do have Axe Throwing - a no-frills, all-thrills activity that you’re going to love. We have a specially.built range for the sports, complete with axes of all shapes and sizes, wooden targets, and even some trees you can take a pop at!
The only place that it makes sense to do axe throwing is in the woods, and we have a beautiful, rugged venue in mixed woodland outside Carrickfergus, County Antrim, to enjoy it in. The team of instructors here have got pretty keen on this activity over the years and they’re ready to pass on their knowledge and tips to you. You’ll be sinking axes like you never dreamed yourself capable of - while safety standards are ensured throughout, of course.

Forest Fitness NI are combat sports specialists, so we couldn’t leave Laser Tag off our list of activities. This high tech game has a number of advantages over airsoft and paintball. In the first place, the lack of projectiles makes it very safe. Then there’s the gameplay - laser taggers (the guns) have unlimited ammo and our top-of-the-range models are accurate at distances of 400 metres.
That range really makes a difference on our huge outdoor site. We have 30 acres of woodland and open spaces here in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, to play with, allowing tactical play, sniping and stealthy strategies. Don’t worry if you prefer a more chaotic match, it’s a hell of a good time whatever your style of play.
Laser tag is the most inclusive of the combat sports because children as young as 5 years old can have a go. We also have NERF guns for the little ones, while Airsoft starts from the age of 12. As well as combat simulation, we run boot camps and team building days, Axe Throwing sessions, Assault Course runs and plenty of special events throughout the year.
