Originally built by the Setons after being granted the land in 1150 and making it their stronghold for around 600 years, Winton Castle has been home to many Lords and Ladies, changing hands many times.
The building sits not too far from Edinburgh within the vast Winton Estate in East Lothian and is iconic for many reasons; its intricate classic structure makes it unique, and it has some of Scotland's most elaborate ornate plaster ceilings to make it even more special.
The stunning castle is the family home of Sir Francis and Lady Ogilvy and has been gaining great acclaim for the wide range of events and activities that we have been running here since 2000. The stunning Winton Castle's deep history dates all the way back to 1150 when the Setons constructed it. Over the centuries since, it has become a popular destination for weddings and a host of many special events in East Lothian. During its history, Many a royal presence has entered the castle and the grounds of Winton Estate, and even the sovereign's bodyguard of archers trained here for many years.

Embark on a 4x4 Driving Adventure you won't forget at Winton Castle!
Just a short drive from Edinburgh, there is a beautiful castle surrounded by an estate filled with exciting opportunities, and we hold the key to all this magic. Winton Castle, built by the Setons in 1150, still stands gloriously today, packed full of royal history and is now used to entertain large groups during select special events for those lucky enough to spend time here and avail of the amazing activities on offer.
If you are organising a stag party or a private corporate event, we have plenty of options for you to choose from, but not many are more exciting and enticing than our 4x4 driving experiences; we are offering you the chance to get behind the wheel of a 4x4 and take it off road onto the most challenging course of its kind in South East Scotland.
In the woodlands not far from the castle, our purpose-built course gives you an immersive way to experience the state's beauty and enjoy an exciting thrill ride over log piles, steep slopes, through water, mud and gravel.
