Description of North Devon Surf School

A lot of places claim to be the best surf destination in the country.

At the North Devon Surf School, we think our case is more watertight than most! First of all, there’s our location. We are set metres above the beach in Westward Ho! in North Devon. This is a quirky village near the town of Bideford which has a pristine, Atlantic-facing coastline. The long sand and pebble beach is blessed with good waves, shelter from the most winds and breathtaking views.

Then there’s the team. We’ve been operating as a surf school since 1998, so we have a wealth of experience under our belts. All of our instructors are qualified and hand-picked - not just for their surfing ability, but also for their personal charm. Getting you to surf, or surf better, really matters to them and they make it show in every lesson.

Lastly, there’s the service we offer, based on a commitment to quality and value for money. Our lessons are packed with useful training exercises and practice time on the water and are available in small group form or as private experiences. We offer them individually or in money-saving bundles, alongside clubs for kids and adults and surf equipment hire.

And that’s all without mentioning the awards we’ve won - including the ISA and Surfing England’s “Centre of Excellence'' award - and our facilities - changing rooms, cafe and surf shop - all right here above the beach.

Come and pay us a visit!

WOULD REPEAT!
Sophie Verhagen 10 Very good
We loved our paddle boarding session! It was really well organised - both the safety session at first and Dan who accompanied us.

We were particularly grateful that although we arrived an hour late as we underestimated the time it would take to walk from Ilfracombe, Ben still let us have our whole 2 1/2 session. Totally recommend this - a real highlight of our holiday, even in the rain!
