We run kayaking sessions on the River Stort on select nights of the year when the moon is full (or almost full) and high in the sky. It’s an exciting, original way to entertain the family.
You’ll meet us in the evening at Kecksys Marina and enjoy the stretch of the river between Sawbridgeworth and Spellbrook as you see fit. We can guide you upstream or let you go at your own pace, enjoying a riverside picnic or stopping off at a countryside pub on the way.
This price is for children under 16 as part of a group of up to eight people that includes adults. There’s no minimum age, but everyone should be comfortable around the water and confident enough to manage an individual kayak.
Kayaks, paddles and safety equipment are included in the price. Make sure that every member of your group has extra layers of clothing and a towel - you might get wet!

Description of Full Moon Kayaking Tour on the River Stort 2.5h
Some enchanted evening, you can have a magical experience.
Come kayaking by the light of the moon with us! We run these evening sessions on the River Stort between Sawbridgeworth and Spellbrook around the full moon each month.
The start time depends on the season but we’ll be on the river for between two and two and a half hours. You decide how you use that time - pack a picnic to enjoy on the river bank, go to a riverside pub, or just enjoy the water.
Our team will give you a safety briefing at our meeting point, Kecksys Marina, supply you with kayaking equipment and supervise the session. We recommend that you have some kayaking experience, at least having taken a taster session, before booking this activity. You should bring layers of clothing and prepare for some of it to get wet.
The whole family - up to eight people - can join in but this particular price is for adults over 16. There is a separate (cheaper!) price that you can use to bring youngsters with you. Bear in mind that everyone will have to control an individual kayak.
