Celtic Deep

Celtic Deep is on a mission to bring the incredible marine life of our island home to the fore.

We are a Pembrokeshire-based company who use this stunning part of South Wales as a starting point for coastal exploration and trips on the Celtic and Irish Seas. What we find there is absolutely breathtaking for our customers, seeing it for the first time, and for us! These waters are home to mammal, bird and fish species that will make you see the oceans in a totally new way.

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park covers numerous islands as well as the bays, headlands and fishing ports of the county. Skomer and Skokholm are great places to start our searches for aquatic fauna. Seals love the rocky shorelines of the islands, while seabirds make their nests in the cliffs and dolphins hunt in the surrounding seas. We also go further from port, to Lundy Island, for example, or out into open water to seek out some of the most iconic animals in the ecosystem  - blue sharks, migrating whales and huge bluefin tuna are some of our favourites.

We aren’t content to spot these creatures from our boats. We use snorkelling and freediving to immerse ourselves and our customers in the aquatic habitats and observe the animals in their element. Although anyone can learn to snorkel or freedive, our trips usually involve spending extended periods of time in cool waters so specialist equipment is required. We can offer this for hire, but it must be organised in advance.

We’re not here just to gawp at the animals that live off the coast of Pembrokeshire. Our project emphasises conservation, research and community outreach alongside adventure tourism. When you join us on one of our trips, you’ll understand that our love and respect for nature - and our responsibility for safeguarding it - are the driving forces behind Celtic Deep.
