Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club is an organisation with great tradition and extremely popular and well-known in the sailing community. We offer an ample variety of watersports for all experience levels and ages, just several miles outside Ipswich. Our Club has accumulated more than 35 years of experience in the field and it has hosted many important sailing events ranging from open meetings to world championships.

Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club is located at the mouth of River Deben, a sailing enthusiast's dream location. This point offers easy access to other interesting places such as the River Orford, River Orwell, River Stour or Harwich Harbor.

The area consists of a large boat park where you can store your vessel and equipment. In addition, our facilities are equipped with showers, a bar and a restaurant from which you can enjoy the spectacular scenery. Members have 24h access to the clubhouse.There are many activities that club members and their invitees can attend, ranging from barbeques to festive parties.

Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club also has a youth section aimed at the more adventurous students. They have the opportunity to challenge each other in fun contests and enjoy a great time together, in a safe environment. At Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club we provide a wide range of RYA-certified Powerboat courses for different experience levels. Powerboating is a crucial component in the world of sailing, as those operating the powerboats are responsible for accompanying the sail boats and provide assistance or rescue when the need for it arises.

There are three courses available to our customers:

• RYA Powerboat Level 1: aimed at those with no previous experience, it is suitable for individuals aged 8 years or more. Participants will learn the basic concepts regarding boating safety, boat handling and theory. By the end of the course, participants will have a basic understanding of powerboating and they can drive a powerboat under supervision.
   
• RYA Powerboat Level 2: It has a duration of 2 days minimum and is suitable for individuals aged 12 years or more. Students will have the chance to perfect and build upon the skills acquired in the Level 1 course by focusing on situations such as launching and recovery, boat handling, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, man overboard. This enables participants to drive a powerboat during the day, in ideal weather conditions.
   
• Safety Boat: Requires participants to have passed the Powerboat Level 2 course. Special emphasis will be placed on boat handling and kayak & canoe and windsurfer rescue, as well as safety norms and towing, among others. The program enables students to gain adequate knowledge about assistance in racing and training environments.

Club members who pass the Safety Boat program may assist the safety teams and apply their newly acquired skills in a practical way up to three times per week.

Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club is one of the few centres in eastern England that has access to both river and sea sailing without moving across important distances. In fact, we have it all readily available right here at our sailing club! We are located at the mouth River Deben, which is easily accessible from Ipswich and its suburbs.

If, on the other hand, you wish to start your training or simply want try new experiences, we can help you learn everything you need to know. Our professional, highly qualified staff will always be there for you, providing assistance, guidance and rescue if needed.

There are various courses to choose from, which serve as a great way to become acquainted with the world of sailing:

• Taster sessions, ideal for absolute beginners.
   
• RYA Level 1 – 2 Beginners Courses for Adults.
   
• RYA Stages 1 – 4 Beginners courses for Youth.
   
• Advanced Courses, including seamanship skills, start racing and sailing with spinnakers.

Our club holds various activities including races for both adults and young people, parties, barbeques and lots of other exciting things for our members. While they can bring their own boats, we also have two vessels available for rental. Club members may park their boats within the boat park, as well as store their equipment within the clubhouse. They will also have access to showers and a restaurant with spectacular views where they can relax after a long day of sailing.
