Welcome to Adventure Dolphin Newbury. We provide a wide range of outdoor adventure activities across Berkshire, primarily for 13 - 19 year olds. We run numerous youth clubs and hold a national reputation as a Centre of Excellence, operating to the highest safety standards. We are licensed by the Adventure Activity Licensing Association (AALA) for the following activities:

Adventure Dolphin Newbury offers a wide range of specialist courses for novices and advanced level enthusiasts. What´s more, we are fully approved by the British Canoe Union (BCU) and we have been awarded the prestigious Sports Council CLUBMARK status.

Welcome to Adventure Dolphin Newbury Canoeing. We offer:

• Organised Tours: We run a number of open Canadian canoe tours, which range from day trips to week-long expeditions. You have the choice to paddle the River Thames, the River Barrow in Ireland, the River Wye and Usk in South Wales, the River Dart and Barle in Devon and the Ardeche in the South of France. The trips can also be undertaken as part of your Duke of Edinburgh award. 
• BCU Tours: To take part in our BCU expeditions, you must carry a BCU membership card and clearly display your membership details on your canoe boat.

Here are some basic canoeing safety points to remember:

• You must be able to swim at least 50m in light clothing
• Make sure you inform your instructor of any medical conditions
• A personal buoyancy aid must be worn at all times
• Practice the safe methods of lifting and carrying your canoe as instructed by your guide
• Wear suitable clothing to prevent hypothermia, sun stroke or eye damage
• Stay with your boat if you capsize

Welcome to Adventure Dolphin Newbury Kayaking. We organise kayaking events on moving water throughout the year and our centre specialises in working with young people of all abilities.

We provide a programme of events to get you started and enjoying the thrills and spills of white water kayaking. We also help to develop your paddling skills and you can gain BCU qualifications while having fun with your friends.

A new paddler is welcome to come along to one of our summer courses, which lead you on to the white water river trips when you are ready.

Where do we go?

We make frequent trips to Devon and Wales. Our favourite trip is on the River Dart, which winds its way down from the wild moor, through the beautiful countryside and on to the sea. There are raging water upper sections to peaceful lower stretches. Other paddling venues include the very popular purpose built white water courses in Northampton, Nottingham and Stockton, which are ideal for practising your moving water paddle skills. Each trip is led by a qualified BCU coach, safety and enjoyment are ensured at all times!

Practice and perfect the various moving water skills with our help in order to maximise your enjoyment of this exciting paddlesport. We will show you how to surf the waves and set-up various safety and rescue scenarios to complete.

Welcome to Adventure Dolphin Newbury Hiking. We offer plenty of great outdoor walking experiences and backpacking expeditions through some of the most beautiful hill and mountain ranges in the UK.

There are various trips organised throughout the year to North Wales, the Lake District and Scotland. You will experience spectacular views, clean air and the freedom of being outdoors.

We provide training to help prepare you for the challenges ahead, including:

• Navigation and map reading skills
• Equipment advice
• Personal fitness
• Essential safety and first aid route planning
• Weather, camping and the environment

We cater for a wide range of abilities and the activities and trips are tailored to suit the group involved.

Day trips are feasible to some places, such as the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales, but many trips involve staying away. Most people choose to stay in mountain huts, youth hostels or wild camp in the hills.

Welcome to Adventure Dolphin Newbury Climbing.

Our climbing activities provide plenty of opportunities for you to learn how to climb as well as how to become a climbing wall instructor yourself. We run courses throughout the year, together with outdoor climbing expeditions away from the centre, allowing you to practice your techniques on an actual rock face. You will be under the guidance and care of a qualified instructor at all times.

Our courses start with Beginner Evenings on an indoor wall, where you will learn the essential climbing and rope techniques. We make use of the Queen Anne's Climbing Wall in Caversham and all equipment is provided for.

Welcome to Adventure Dolphin Newbury Mountain Biking. We offer an exciting range of cycling activities, from local bike rides to weekends away.

Away from the traffic of busy roads enables you to cover great distances. If you are interested in developing your biking skills, improving your fitness or simply enjoy mountain biking... we have something for everyone!

Mountain biking is great because there are no limits!

If you haven´t ridden a bike for a while we can start things slowly, as your muscles will need time to adjust.

Adventure Dolphin Newbury Mountain Biking offers activities with qualified mountain bike leaders and they work hard to develop your skills and biking knowledge.

We also offer cross-country racing over a set course and against other riders. You will generally race over a set number of laps, which are determined by the ability of the group involved.

If you have a thirst for speed, nerves of steel and quick reactions, you will enjoy our downhill mountain biking events.

Welcome to Adventure Dolphin Newbury Orienteering.

What is Orienteering ?

Orienteering involves navigating between marked control points that are detailed on a special orienteering map. The challenge is deciding the best and quickest route! You are welcome to run, jog or walk around the course. What´s more, you can start orienteering at any level; there are no age or fitness restrictions.

We meet regularly at local events run by the Berkshire Orienteers in order to participate, compete and progress through the badge scheme, as well as socialise!

We also offer British Orienteering Federation (BOF) courses.
