Looking to try canoeing for the first time? Try Black Mountain Activities Canoeing as a great introduction to the popular water-based sport.

Our canoes are ideal for group bookings such as corporate days out or birthday parties. We provide a fun and safe day out for everyone interested in canoeing.

You will be equipped with state of the art equipment such as a buoyancy aid and a single-bladed paddle needed to steer the canoe.

We have the perfect flat water conditions to practice on, enabling you to grasp the basics quickly. We will teach you how to paddle in a straight line, turn and stop.

There is also the opportunity to travel downstream and observe natural wildlife in its habitat.

Black Mountain Activities Kayaking is an activity centre located in the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales. We offer kayak taster days for those who have little or no kayaking experience.

Our taster days introduce you to the art of paddle sports in a closed deck kayak. We normally run from April to October and operate on the River Wye as it is a great sheltered location.

Kayaking can be relaxing or adventurous; we aim to incorporate each element in your session.

After completing a series of land based exercises, we will get into the water and work on developing your paddling techniques. The emphasis is on having fun in a safe and controlled environment.

Black Mountain Activities Canyoning consists of:

• Crawling behind waterfalls
• Jumping off ledges
• Travelling through small caves
• Jumping into deep pools
• Traversing rock faces

It is important that you are properly kitted out with a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet. Furthermore, our expert guides will be leading the expedition and ensure that you travel up the river safely.

Experience the adrenalin rush that is Black Mountain Activities Rafting! We operate on the River Wye, which has some of the most demanding white water rafting sections in the U.K.

Black Mountain Activities Climbing offers authentic rock climbing experiences. We specialise in taster days that are designed for people with little or no experience.

We welcome everyone interested in climbing. We will teach you the basic skills and techniques required to start climbing.

It is a popular outdoor activity with a huge profile.

After an important safety briefing, the first moves will take place low down. We will teach you how to boulder, traverse rock faces and find suitable hand and foot placements.

Our continual motivation and support will encourage your speedy progress. It will not be long before you are completing high climbs you never thought possible!

Black Mountain Activities Archery enables you to experience the ancient art of firing arrows.

We have a purpose built site within our grounds dedicated to archery practice. We allow you to learn the skill of archery in a controlled environment, under the supervision of expert instructors.

We have lightweight and powerful re-curve training bows to choose from. When you have found the perfect bow, you can expect to start scoring and hitting the bull´s eye over and over again.

Black Mountain Activities Caving enables you to explore the world beneath your feet! We are situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales; the ideal location for caving as it is riddled with caverns, pot holes and passages.

We have the biggest cave entrance in South Wales and the largest cave passage in the U.K.!

Our experienced caving guides will lead you through the beauty of the subterranean world safely. We insist that you wear a helmet at all times.

There are many cave systems to choose from and we will decide which one to tackle depending on the ability of the group. The experience can be as easy or as intensive as you want!

The day will be broken by a brief return to the surface for a bite to eat, before returning to the dark and humid underworld to complete the tour.

Black Mountain Activities Mountain Biking is a bike hire service situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales.

It is a great way to keep fit, whilst enjoying the beautiful surrounding countryside.

We can accommodate groups of up to 21 people. You may also want an experienced guide to lead the expedition. Their local knowledge will provide you with an exceptional insight into the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Our service includes:

• helmet

The route you will undertake depends on your fitness levels. We have custom made each route to suit a particular ability. There is also a back-up service just in case you run into difficulty.

Black Mountain Activities Orienteering takes place in the stunning Welsh hills. It is considered the sport of navigation with a map and compass.

Orienteering is suitable for all ages and abilities. The aim is to run, walk or bike a series of points shown on a map in the shortest amount of time possible. You have to decide as a group between on and off-trail routes that may help you find the points more quickly.

Those with no previous experience will undertake a brief introduction to orienteering and the skills involved before the race begins.

Black Mountain Activities Orienteering is a ´thinking-sport´.  The emphasis is on teamwork and we hope to improve your communication skills, whilst you are having fun.

Black Mountain Activities Clay Pigeon Shooting is the art of targeting 4” saucer shaped discs made of clay.

For those who are not familiar with the sport, our expert instructors will show you the ropes. They will introduce you to the basics of the activity and how to handle a shotgun safely. Afterwards, you will get the chance to shoot!

We will be on hand to coach you throughout your session. Once you have had a few practice shoots you will start to get the hang of it. Our aim is to get you to master the sport and hit the clays successfully over and over again.

For those who are more experienced, have you tried shooting two clays at once? We have a variety of moving targets to challenge you with.

Black Mountain Activities Clay Pigeon Shooting sessions run for approximately 2 hours and you may purchase more shots at the end of your lesson if you wish.

Are you looking for a fun and challenging activity to pass the time or celebrate a special occasion? Black Mountain Activities Canopy is just what you need!

Our high rope activity course will test your fear of heights as well as offering you a variety of different challenges to undertake.

Our obstacle course includes the following individual elements:

• Crisis cross: an agility test
• Indian rope bridge: a horizontal ladder
• Postman´s walk: a rope for your hands and another for your feet
• Balance log: the ultimate balancing test
• Grapevine: uses the vines in order to cross the divide
• Monkey swings: stand-up swings
• Zip wire: aerial runway
• Trapeze: leap of faith

We adopt the ´challenge by choice´ philosophy. You are welcome to undertake as many or as little obstacles as you wish on the day. The emphasis is on fun!
